Garden lighting has become so creative and so ubiquitous that we rarely think back to a time when the idea of decoratively lighting up the home garden after dark was relatively new. Almost 90 years ago, San Diego’s local electrical provider called on a Persian poet and invoked romance to help advertise its Moon Ray lighting in California Garden magazine. ~ Nancy Carol Carter

Re-discover Your Garden with Electric Light

Gardens, Moonlight and Romance have always been very close companions. It was "Omar" [Kayyam], the Persian poet who wrote "Ah! Moon of my Delight who know'st no wane." Modern science, through the efforts of F. B. Nightingale, illuminating engineer, has created an electrical moon called the Kim Moon Ray. Most assuredly it "know'st no wane" and comes concealed within a bird house.

Now you may have a surprisingly natural moonlight whenever and as long as you wish—but, thank goodness, it is still necessary to furnish your own Romance.
