Nifty 50 Plant List and the Happy 100 Plant List

Our April meeting will be filled with exciting and informative ways to create a water-wise garden. Debby Dunn, an enthusiastic advocate for the environment with a passion for educating people to use water efficiently, will be our speaker.
She is a senior water resource specialist for the San Diego County Water Authority where she manages million-dollar programs that help residents and businesses successfully plant healthy water-wise landscapes.
In her prior work as the Water Conservation Administrator for the City of Beverly Hills, and in teaching water-wise landscaping workshops for other municipalities, Debby has assisted over 12,000 residents and business owners to become more efficient water users.
Debby holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Cal State Sacramento where she graduated summa cum laude, and an M.P.A. in Public Administration from Cal State Northridge where she also graduated summa cum laude. “More than ever, people are looking to create colorful landscapes that use water wisely and invite birds, bees and butterflies,” said Debby Dunn. “Interest in California native plants, as well as waterwise plants from Australia and South Africa, is skyrocketing.”
The Water Authority’s new Nifty 50 plant list and the newly released Happy 100 plant list can help homeowners with landscape plant selection ideal for the San Diego region.
